This week's Flip Side 45 comes from 1985 John Cougar Mellencamp album, Scarecrow. "Rumbleseat" was the last single from the album and was released in 1986. It went to number 28 on the Billboard Hot 100. The flip side? A James Brown song called "Cold Sweat".

When this week's Flip Side 45 was released, Samantha Fox was already famous as a "glamour girl" in England and for her previous U.S.Top Five hit "Touch Me". From her second, self-title album, this week's hit side went to number 3, "Naughty Girls (Need Love Too)" and the flip side "Dream City".

This week's Flip Side 45 is the debut single from the Scottish singer, Sheena Easton. Exposure on a British TV show The Big Time, helped her to get a recording contract and helped push her first two singles into the UK top ten. This weeks featured 45 peaked in the US at number 18 and it is "Modern Girl". the flip side, "Summer's Over".

This week's Flip Side 45 is from the debut solo album by Phil Collin. Released in February 1981, Face Value went to number 1 around the world and into the Top 10 in the US. Two singles were released in the US and this week's flip side was the second release, "I Missed Again". This top 20's flip side, "I'm Not Moving".

This week it's the All 80s Movie Music Show and in the same vein is this week's Flip Side 45! From the soundtrack to the movie "Ruthless People" and from the album "The Bridge", it's Billy Joel's Top 10 hit from 1986, "Modern Woman" and the flip side, which can be heard on his album "Glass Houses", "Sleeping With The Television On".

This week we go back the the spring and summer of 1985 when the Eurythmics released their album "Be Yourself Tonight". Of the four singles that were released from the album, "Would I Lie To You" was the biggest hit and is the 'hit side'. The 'flip side'? "Here Comes That Sinking Feeling Again".

The 1984 album that contained this weeks Flip Side 45 was the 11th studio album for a band from Champaign, Illinois. REO Speedwagon and their top ten album "Wheels Are Turning'. This weeks "hit side" is the Top 30 hit "I Do' Wanna Know" and the flip side, "Rock 'N Roll Star".

The title track from Cyndi Lauper's second album is this week's Flip Side 45. True Colors was released in 1986 and the single went to #1 in the US. The flip side was originally available only as the B-side to True Colors. In 2001 it was released as a track on the album Feels Like Christmas. This week's flip side is "Heading For The Moon".

In 1986, the band Genesis release its 13th studio album, Invisible Touch. Of the 8 tracks on the album 7 were released as singles. The biggest hit was this weeks Flip Side 45, "Invisible Touch", and the flip side, "The Last Domino".

In 1985, founding member of the group Genesis, Mike Rutherford formed a side project group called "Mike + The Mechanics". From their debut, self-titled album the hit "Silent Running (On Dangerous Ground)" was released as a single, and the flip side "Par Avion".

This week's Flip Side 45 was released as single in February of 1987. It's the second single released off the album "Look What The Cat Dragged In". It's the Top Ten hit "Talk Dirty To Me". The flip side, "Want Some, Need Some".

This week's Flip Side 45 is a political protest song. According to the song writer: "a lot of people were still worried about the aftermath of The Cold War and it was basically an encouragement to protest.". That songwriter was Roland Orzabal of Tears For Fears. The song, "Shout", from the 1985 album, Songs From The Big Chair. The flip side, "The Big Chair".

We first heard Peter Cetera as one of the original members of the band Chicago. From his second solo album, Solitude/Solitaire, this weeks Flip Side 45 is the number one hit, Glory Of Love. The flip side, "On The Line".

Flip Side 45 #49

Aretha Franklin, The Queen Of Soul, in the summer of 1985 released the album "Who's Zooming Who?". From it the hit Freeway Of Love went to #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart. That's this weeks Flip Side 45, along with THE flip side, Until You Say You Love Me.

This week's Flip Side 45 was written by it's singer Billy Ocean and famed producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange. From 1988, it's the number one hit "Get Outta My Dreams, Get into My Car" and the flip side, "Showdown".

This week's Flip Side 45 comes from the man born "Prince Rogers Nelson", but we know him best simply as "Prince". From the movie "Purple Rain" it's "When Doves Cry" and the flip side, "17 Days".

Flip Side 45 #46

Last week's Flip Side 45 had The Bangles as the hit and Joan Jett as the flip side.

This week it's Joan Jett "all-the-way" with her Top 10 hit "I Hate Myself For Loving You" from her album "Up Your Alley" and the flip side, a live version of a song from the "I Love Rock and Roll" album, "Love Is Pain".

Flip Side 45 #45

This week's Flip Side 45 was written in 1966 and was originally a Top 20 hit for Simon And Garfunkel. In 1987 a harder edge version of "Hazy Shade Of Winter" was recorded by The Bangles for the film "Less Than Zero". This version went to #2.

The flip side is also from the movie. Performing the song "She's Lost You" it's "Joan Jett and The Blackhearts".

Greatest American Hero actor dies

The actor that portrayed the FBI agent Bill Maxwell in the 80s show "The Greatest American Hero" has died. Culp died Wednesday after a fall outside of his Los Angeles home. He was 79.

Flip Side 45 #44

Jermaine Stewart release his album Frantic Romantic in 1986. The first single from the album was the number 5 smash We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off. The flip side, "Give Your Love To Me".

Sadly Jermaine passed away March 17, 1997 from AIDS-related liver cancer. He was 39.

In 1982, The Go-Go's released their second album, "Vacation". The record had three singles released from it but the first, the title track was by far the biggest, going to #8 on the charts. The flip side, Beatnik Beach.

Flip Side 45 #42

This weeks Flip Side 45 comes to us via Minneapolis. A band of brothers and sisters collectively called, The Jets.

In 1985, they released their first studio album, simply called, The Jets. The album spawned four hits. One of those hits became their most successful single, "Crush On You", and the flip side, "Right Before My Eyes".

In 1986, The Cars bassist and sometimes vocalist, Benjamin Orr released his debut solo album, The Lace. From it, the hit "Stay The Night" was the only song to hit the charts. This week's Flips Side 45 is "That's The Way"

The English duo Go West released their debut, self-titled album in 1985. The album produced three songs that hit the Hot 100. The first is this weeks Flip Side 45. We Close Our Eyes and the flip side, Missing Persons.

This week's Flip Side 45 comes from the 1987 album "Babylon and On" by the English group, Squeeze. The song went to number 15 on the charts in the US. It's "Hourglass" and the flip side of "Wedding Day".

In 1985 Sylvester Stallone starred in the Rocky IV. Heard in the movie was "The Godfather of Soul" James Brown and his hit "Living In America". The flip side of the 45 was performed by Vince DiCola performing the song Farewell.

This weeks flip side was the first single from the 1987 album "Let It Loose" by Gloria Estefan and The Miami Sound Machine. Rhythm Is Gonna Get You went to #5 on the Billboard Hot 100. The Flip Side 45, "Give It Up".

This weeks Flip Side 45 comes from across the "big pond". Duran Duran formed in 1978 and by 1981 had released their first album. It wasn't until their third album, Seven And The Ragged Tiger in 1983, do we hear the #3 hit "Union of The Snake" and, at the time, available only on the flip side, "Secret Oktober".
